Gravure printing is the undisputed leader in quality and performance. The paint used in the manufacture of flexible packaging meets the Swiss legislation in the field of food safety which is part of our policy aimed at making food packaging safe for the consumer.
The Havy Product Company uses printing equipment that is unique in the Ukrainian market:
– Servo on each printing unit. This means that the torque is transmitted to the shafts by means of independent engines directly controlled by the computer. This ensures the highest accuracy and stability of the combination of colors, as well as a short make-up when changing tasks, because the computer system “remembers” the position of each shaft that was saved by the operator when performing this task previous time.
– System of automatic control of paint viscosity. Ink viscosity is the most important parameter affecting the resulting color, the strength of paint fixing. A special viscosity sensor monitors this parameter in each print section and gives the command to correct the viscosity automatically each time this parameter goes beyond the limits set by the operator. The use of this technology allows to maintain high print quality throughout the task.
The technology of rotational intaglio printing has no equal in its reproduction capabilities, and therefore is one of the priority methods of manufacturing high-circulation high-quality flexible packaging.
Gravure printing is a printing method in which the transfer of an image and text to a printed material is carried out from a printing form, in which the printing elements are deepened with respect to the whitespace elements. Whitespace elements are on the same level, interconnected and form an inseparable mesh surface. The ink from the whitespace elements is removed with a squeegee, a special metal plate tightly attached to the chrome-plated top of the printing cylinder.
As follows from the definition, the distinctive features of the intaglio printing method are the following:
– The whitespace elements of the printing shape form one surface, and the printing elements are deepened, and in the classical intaglio printing method, the darkest parts of the image have the depth of the printing elements and the lowest. Consequently, a different tonality of the image on the print is provided by a different thickness of the paint layer on the print;
– During the printing process, the intaglio printing shape is completely rolled up with ink – the ink fills all the printing elements and also covers all the spaces. In modern printing machines a thin knife made of elastic steel tape is used- squeegee, cleansing the paint from the whitespace before the form comes in contact with the film.
